What do I need to grow mushrooms in a tub?
Supplies needed:
- Plastic tote with lid
- A 1/2 inch hole saw/drill
- Scrap wood block
- Plastic liner/plastic bag
- Disinfectant spray
- Tub Filters
- Substrate
- Colonized grain spawn
Step one: Build your monotub setup.
Step two: Keep it clean.
You must keep your space free from contaminants like unwanted bacteria and yeasts that can destroy your growth.
Remove any degree and surface dirt, then use a disinfectant spray to disinfect the area. Make sure to follow the directions on your disinfectant, as different products require different contact times to work correctly.
Step three: Add your filters.
Now that your area is clean, you can apply your filters. Our filters ensure proper airflow while keeping unwanted debris and particles out of your grow.
Polyfill can be a good alternative if you don't have filters available.
Step four: Place your liner.
Place your liner in the bottom of your tub.
Step five: Keep it clean again.
Disinfect everything again. Do it. You don't want your whole grow contaminated because you didn't clean and disinfect your grow space.
Step six: Add your substrate.
Add your substrate to the tub using clean, disinfected hands.
Step seven: Add your grain spawn.
Add your grain spawn to the substrate. Break up the chunks of mycelium so you've evenly distributed them.
